Last week marked another club highlight, when Matt Minervini lead his team out to mark his 150th appearance wearing his all familiar Power number 29 jumper.
Matt started his career with the Power as an Auskicker in 2002. He started playing competitive footy as an 8 year old and then moving up through the age groups. Unfortunately in 2010 the boys lost the Grand Final to Rossmoyne, but have been recruiting mates through school and acquaintances to strengthen the team. Since Matt started playing 13’s, he has always Captained this side and along the way achieved Best and Fairest awards, an East Fremantle Association Runner up Best and Fairest and has represented the East Fremantle development side every year since age 14. In 2011 he was one of Vice Captains to represent WA in the National 15’s carnival in Canberra.
Matt has always stayed true to this club and has the remainder of this year and next year to find team/club success. Continue reading
Congratulations to Mitch Dux who played his 150th game on Sunday 5th August.
Mitch started in Auskick with South Coogee in 2000 when he was six years old. He played through to 9s finishing at the end of 2003. His older brother had moved to East Freo Power from South Coogee in 2003 so he followed him in 2004 playing another year of 9s due to his late birthday. He played through to 2009 (14s) but missed the whole season in 2010 due to a knee injury. Mitch returned in 2011 to play 16s and is finishing off this year in the 17s.
He has played in two Grand Finals, runners up in 2008 and returning in 2009 to win the premiership, a career highlight! Mitch has decided to hang up the boots at the end of this season and is looking to take on a Coaching role within the club in 2013. Continue reading
