At a jumper presentation at Shark Park on 9 March the 40 player East Fremantle District 16s Academy was announced. Players were selected from more than ten clubs including seven players from as far away as Geraldton. Congratulations to six East Fremantle Power players!
The Academy leadership positions were also announced and remarkably three of the four leaders are Power players. The Academy is one step away from the Colts competition which is a great achievement!
The grueling selection involved training and trials all through summer including boot camps and beach sessions. Around seventy players started the journey but several ‘cuts’ occured when hard working and talented players got the grim news that there efforts were unsuccessful. The 16s team will play other WAFL teams through a six game competition in March and April 2016.
Congratulations to the Power’s Nicholas Watson (Captain), Milan Murdoch (Vice Captain), Dillon O’Reilly (Vice Captain), Lachlan Duncanson, Felix Shakelton and Lachlan Armstrong. The Academy’s Team Manager is the Power’s Daniel Richards.
The East Fremantle District Fairest and Best award night was held at the Shark Park clubrooms on Thursday 6th September 2012 and a full house gathered to witness the count.

Food was served early for the players, and then they hopped straight into the vote counts for each grade. This year’s format saw the votes for the last five rounds from each game counted, and then they announced the top 10 place getters and of course the runner up and winners for each age group.
The Power had top 10 place getters in each grade 13s through to 17s, with Tom Marshall from the 14s team winning that age group. Tom polled 29 votes for his outstanding efforts during the 2012 season. The club congratulates Tom and all of these players for their results, and how they represented the club over the season and on the night. Continue reading
